MAUI'S SECRET

MAUI'S SECRET

LOCATION

Deep within Hawaii’s island of Maui lies a beautiful tropical forest like none other in the entire world. Rainbow eucalyptus trees cover the forest, bringing colorful life everywhere, from the ground to the sky! The colors were so bright and vibrant, the natives decided only one name was suitable for such a place: the Painted Forest. With trees so colorful and flowers where ever you turn, this place can only be described as a magical land filled with color and joy.

THE PAINTED FOREST

THE PAINTED FOREST

RAINBOW EUCALYPTUS

Easily recognizable and aptly named, the Rainbow Eucalyptus Tree is called that because of its multi-colored bark. Many people mistake the abstract strokes of color for paint, but this beautiful tree naturally bears many shades of colors like green, orange, purple, brown, pink and blue. What makes them even more special and truly unique is that no two trees have the same pattern.

The colorful bark tends to outshine the tree’s flowers, which are very subtle and often go unnoticed. Up close, the flowers are pretty, white stamens with flowered clusters. One of the reasons the flowers are usually overlooked is because they are hard to see on such large, tall trees. The Rainbow Eucalyptus Tree can grow between five to eight feet every year. They can get as tall as 220 feet, and the trunk of the tree can even get as thick as six to eight feet around!
